Keep your vision in focus with us!

Unfortunately we're all getting a little bit "more mature"!
Our vision often changes when we achieve the magic age of 60
however I do understand that 60 is the new 40!
What can we expect when we get into our 60's
·Most people need some form of vision correction by their 60s.
·Long-sightedness and short-sightedness may affect everyday tasks.
·Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) affects central vision and can cause sight loss.
·Glaucoma becomes more common with age and may develop without obvious early symptoms.
·Cataracts can make vision cloudy, blurred or less clear.
·Dry eyes, flashes and floaters are also common after 60.
·Blurred, cloudy or distorted vision.
·Difficulty reading, recognising faces or seeing fine detail.
·Needing brighter light or struggling with glare and night driving.
·Colours appearing faded or less vivid.
·Loss of side vision, patchy vision or a dark area in the centre of sight.
·New or increasing flashes, floaters, eye discomfort or dryness.
Most changes need to be investigated, but some changes can indicate a more serious problem so:
·You suddenly see many new flashes or floaters.
·A dark curtain or shadow moves across your vision.
·Your sight suddenly becomes blurred or is lost.
·Uncorrected poor vision can reduce independence and increase the risk of falls.
·Regular sight tests can detect eye problems before you notice symptoms.
·Adults should usually have a sight test at least every two years, or more often if advised by an optometrist.
·NHS sight tests are free for people aged 60 and over.
